A single-upright knee brace with the Icarus Distraction Hinge, which extends 1 cm as you walk to separate the joint and unload the affected compartment. For medial or lateral OA and meniscus protection.

Offload with distraction.
As you walk, the Distraction Hinge extends 1 cm to separate the joint, working with a 3-point unloading strap system for a one-two punch of joint unloading. Medial and lateral versions, for the left or right knee.
Indications and contraindications.
- Medial or lateral compartment knee osteoarthritis
- Knee instability
- MCL or LCL unloading
- Meniscal tear management
- Unloading after meniscal repair surgery
- Patellofemoral or multi-compartment osteoarthritis (the Ascender may suit better)
- Severe varus or valgus deformity that does not correct passively
- Significant fixed knee flexion contracture (the knee cannot straighten)
- Unhealed fracture or recent knee surgery, unless your surgeon has cleared you for bracing
- Open wounds, ulcers or skin infection where the brace sits
- Suspected or confirmed deep vein thrombosis (DVT) in the leg
- Severe peripheral vascular disease or poor circulation in the leg
- Reduced sensation in the leg, unless fitted and monitored by a clinician
- Known allergy or sensitivity to the brace materials
